System requirements for running the software:
Windows 7 or higher.
The software runs on dedicated (discrete) as well as integrated GPUs supporting OpenGL 3.3 or higher.
Requirements for analysing lattice parameters:
- known projection center PC, or a reference Kikuchi diffraction pattern for its determination, preferably from a cubic phase
- the electron energy described by the applied high voltage HV in kV
Please note: a/b, c/b, α, β, γ do not change if HV is varied or only estimated. - a large-angle Kikuchi diffraction pattern of highest possible quality, i.e. high signal-to-noise ratio and high image resolution
This does not mean you cannot use small images, e.g. with 320×230 pixels (see below), but this might reduce accuracy and precision. However, visually blurred high-resolution images with high noise are less suitable.

From 75 bands CALM derives a lattice parameter1 aCALM=4.78±0.08 Å and
a/b = 1.002, c/b = 1.105, α = 90.3°, β = 89.9°, γ = 120°,
instead of the ideal
a/b = 1 , c/b = 1.101, α = 90°, β = 90°, γ = 120°.
This means, all deviations are below 0.5%, except of 1.
1aCALM needs a further correction by the mean atomic number (see Nolze et al. (2021))
