Useful tools

CALM provides additional information that helps in finding the correct Bravais lattice type or provides clues about a faulty projection center or image distortions.
These include for example

  • indexing of the diffracting lattice planes (hkl) and zone axis [uvw]
  • reciprocal lattice projection along any [uvw] or [hkl]*
  • angle measurement between zone axes [uvw]i or lattice planes (hkl)i
  • band profile extraction from experimental band (and theoretical if the digital twin is available)
  • visualization of the effective size of the captured sector
  • final MAD (mean angular deviation) between experimentally derived and geometrically predicted band positions
  • visual indication of Bragg angle deviations
  • projection center determination and refinement (for known phases)
  • identification of false bands from other grains (overlaid pattern)
  • locally systematic deviations in the band centers and widths
